The Chief Pontiac Program Committee has designed the Little Brave Program to structure and promote outdoor activities and designed for Tiger Cubs through Second Class Scouts. Initially conceived to be completed at Great Lakes Council properties and public parks in Wayne, Oakland or Macomb counties, the program now allows qualifying activities to be completed at any forest, park or campground across the state.
The Little Brave Program Manual describes all of the guidelines of the program. There are two ways to participate in this program:
You are encouraged to use the Little Brave program in conjunction with rank advancement activities. In other words, Little Brave outings may be scheduled with the intent to not only earn a Little Brave segment patch, but also to achieve rank advancement goals, collect Hiking Club miles, and earn belt loops/pins. Additionally, many registered leaders enjoy the outdoors and are willing to host events for which Little Brave patches may be earned. The cost of the awards is the responsibility of each scout. If there is a fee associated with a specific program, each scout or den will also be responsible for that fee. There is a limit of one Little Brave segment per person per day. Each segment must represent a minimum of two hours of outdoor activity. “Double-dipping” is not allowed only when a Scout attends a Council event (such as Day Camp) where he is given a participant patch. Only in this case the Scout may not receive a Little Brave segment patch in addition to the other patch for the same activity.
